North & South - Movie Review

I am always on the lookout for a good clean wholesome movie. My weakness is period pieces. So when I heard of this movie "North & South" being compared to the 1995 A&E version of "Pride & Prejudice" I knew I needed to check it out. So this past birthday, I spent my BD money on the movie.

I was not disappointed. This takes place during the Industrial Revolution in London. When Margaret Hale's father can no longer in conscience agree with the church, he uproots his family from the home they love in the South, to a cold industrial town in the north where she catches the eye of mill owner John Thorton. There are four episodes about an hour each. It has wonderful acting and a satisfactory ending, oh and unlike P&P, minimal cleavage. Unlike me, you may not want to spend the $25 for it before viewing it, you shoud be able to get it through your local library's inter-library loan program. I give it 5 stars (out of 5). Since it has no rating, I would consider it PG.

**Movies I hope to reviewing soon

Masterpiece Theatre's Pollyanna
Miss Potter
The Sign of the Beaver (aka Keeping the Promise)
Flicka vs My Friend Flicka
Molly: An American Girl
Samantha: An American Girl

Wholesome movies are hard to come by, I'll have to check this out! I bought Miss Potter, but haven't watched it yet. Thanks for sharing.

Hello!
Ok I just got done watching this movie, the first two episodes were rather sssslllllooooowwwww...BUT it did pick up and the scene between the two mothers, HOW POWERFUL WAS THAT! AUGH!! :-) And then the scene where her guardian is walking with her to visit the home she grew up in, it was bittersweet.

The costumes I enjoyed because cleavage wasn't hanging out everywhere LOL, and the kiss at the end I think should of waited until the wedding day or a scene after the marriage. Kind of like Pride and Prejudice.

It was good, I would recommend it or watch it again.

Ok Kay, where's the next review????

P.S. I saw your post on the Well Tell Me herbal Tincture board-back in April, about how much to purchase etc. Did you ever get tinctures made?
